Weekend round-up: Club wins & losses

6th Class Green take title

A superb performance by 6th Class Green saw them take the Leinster title today in their division. The first time in the club’s history that a 6th class Boyne team has won a Leinster final. They defeated Newbridge 5-0.

First Class Team East take title

They join First Year Team East on the winners’ podium. Team East won their Leinster final last Saturday 3-1 against Dublin North. This team won all their matches in each round of the X8 B League playoffs to get to the final. A great result!

Other results

Unfortunately despite valiant performances by 6th Class Black (playing Tullamore) and First Year North (playing Stillorgan) it was not their day today. Both sides lost out by a single goal in their respective Leinster Finals. They fought with wonderful spirit and tenacity and we are incredibly proud of each and every one of them. It is a fantastic achievement for any side to win the right to a Leinster final.

All four of these teams were richly deserving of the honour having won all of their league matches and their 4 semi-finals.

The second year team were also defeated 4-0 in their semi final match last Sunday 24th March, against a very skilled Three Rock Rovers team. The score does not reflect the effort and dedication of this team.  We wish Three Rock Rovers all the best in the final.

Its really been a wonderful end to the X8 and Junior league seasons in advance of our 10 year anniversary celebrations.
